Permanent Opportunity: Nurse Practitioner – Cardiothoracic Surgery
Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado
Position Overview
Seeking a full-time, experienced Nurse Practitioner with a background in cardiac or cardiovascular surgery and ICU patient management to join an advanced cardiothoracic care team. This role is patient-centered, collaborative, and highly specialized.
Note:

• Not open to locums or locums-to-perm
• No visa sponsorship available

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive perioperative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Assist in cardiac surgeries, including endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting as needed
• Manage ICU and CV surgery patients (CVICU, floor, and clinic)
• Participate in two full-day clinics weekly, with additional patient care as needed
• Rotate through operating room coverage Monday–Friday
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals
• Order, interpret, and evaluate lab and diagnostic tests
• Develop and implement care plans based on diagnostic outcomes
• Prescribe medications per policy and regulatory guidelines
• Perform bedside procedures appropriate to patient needs
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation
• Maintain CME to meet state/national licensing standards
• Function independently under physician supervision
• Adapt to high-stress, fast-paced clinical environments
• Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and strong clinical judgment

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: Cardiac/cardiovascular surgery + ICU patient management – Required
• Licensure: Active Nurse Practitioner license in Colorado or eligibility – Required
• Certification: Must meet CME and regulatory requirements
• Visa Candidates: Not eligible for this role
