Locums Hospitalist Opportunity

Location: Cortez, Colorado

Clinical Role

• Locum tenens hospitalist position

• Seeking a provider comfortable seeing all ages

• 24-hour shift coverage

• Open coverage dates:

  • March 22–27

  • April 2–13

  • April 18–24

Facility & Practice Details

• ICU Beds: 4

• Acute Med/Surg Beds: 13

• Swing Beds: Average of 4 (utilized within the 13 Med/Surg beds)

• Family Birthing Unit: 3 rooms (included in census)

Patient Acuity & Volume

• Acuity: Variable – pneumonia, sepsis, weakness, DKA, respiratory failure

• Census:

  • Max: 20

  • Min: 2–4

  • Average daily census: 8

• Admissions: 12–20 per week (approx.)

• Discharges: 1–4 per day

• Average LOS: 4 days (Med/Surg)

Historical Daily Census (Average)

• 2025 (10 months ending Oct 2025):

  • Med/Surg: 5

  • ICU: 2

  • OB (combined with Med/Surg & ICU): 1

  • Swing: 3

• 2024:

  • Med/Surg: 5

  • ICU: 2

  • OB (combined with Med/Surg & ICU): 1

  • Swing: 3

EMR

• Cerner

Onsite Specialty Support

• General Surgery

• Anesthesia

• Orthopedics

• Podiatry

• 24/7 OB coverage

Experience & Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible

• New graduates welcome

• Med/Peds experience or Family Medicine with Pediatric experience

• Comfortable with:

  • Intubations

  • Central lines

  • Leading codes

  • Rapid responses

• Case logs required from the past 24 months

• Call room available onsite

• 7–10 twenty-four-hour shifts per month
