Locums – Mason City, Iowa, Cardiac Anesthesiology Opening
Clinical Role:

    • 4/15-19, 4/29-5/3, 5/6-5/10, 5/13-5/17, 6/24-6/28, 7/1-7/5, 7/8-7/12, 8/5-8/9, 8/12-8/16, 12/23-12/27, 12/30-1/3
    • M-W-F 6:30 am-3:00 pm; T-Th 7:00 am-3:30 pm - will stay later if help is needed in non-cardiac cases or the cardiac case is not finished
    • Growing hospital cardiac surgery program
    • Trauma Level II
    • Practice Setting: Hospital based.  On rare occasions may need to oversee CRNAs at the ASC if no cardiac cases are scheduled and a physician is needed at the ASC location.
    • Documentation System/EMR: Cerner - moving to EPIC, some paper
    • Average Number of Surgical Cases Per Day: Cardiac surgeries 1/day, but not every day; 5-7 general cases/day.  Must help cover general if no cardiac cases.
    • Number of Anesthesiologists in Practice: 6
    • Patient Age Demographic: Adolescent, Child, Adult, Geriatric.  Very sick children are sent to other hospitals better staffed/equipped for children.
    • Number of Operating Rooms: 8 in use at one time
    • Cannot accept visa candidates
    • Board Certified in Cardiac Anesthesiology - Preferred (will also consider Board Eligible)
    • Active Iowa license or IMLC – Highly Preferred
    • TEE Certified (must be able to read, interpret, and bill TEE procedures - NOT just the placement of the probe) - Required
    • Iowa CSR - Required
    • DEA - Required
    • Cardiac Fellowship - Preferred (extensive experience would be acceptable if TEE certified)
    • BLS, ACLS, PALS - Required
    • COVID Vaccinated - Required
