Locums – Emergency Medicine – Kissimmee, Florida

Contract Length: 3 Months

Schedule & Shift Details:

• Main hospital campus may allow shifts shorter than 12 hours

• Affiliated freestanding emergency departments (FSEDs) require 12-hour shifts

• Locum coverage equivalent to 2 FTEs

• Providers must be flexible to work days, nights, and weekends

• Preference for providers willing to cover both main hospital and affiliated FSED locations

Position Overview:
This locums Emergency Medicine assignment provides coverage at a main hospital ED and affiliated freestanding ED locations. The provider will independently manage a full range of emergency presentations, utilize a dedicated trauma room and pediatric treatment room, and coordinate seamless handoffs for patients requiring inpatient admission across the HCA system.

Daily Breakdown / Responsibilities:

• Annual patient volume: 19,000 (approx. 52 patients per day)

• Private care beds: 12

• Managing trauma and pediatric cases as appropriate

• Handoff of admitted patients to intensivists, hospitalists, and specialists for inpatient care

• Engagement in phone interview with Site Directors prior to assignment for fit and Q&A

Facility Details:

• Setting: Main hospital and freestanding emergency departments

• Trauma: Dedicated trauma room

• Pediatrics: Dedicated pediatric treatment room

• Inpatient admissions transferred to HCA partner hospitals for continuity of care

Requirements:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)

• OR Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience

• EM residency training required

• ACLS and PALS required
