Locums – Dublin, Georgia | Pediatric Hospitalist – 3-Month Coverage

Position Overview:
Immediate Pediatric Hospitalist opportunity offering a balanced mix of nursery, pediatric floor, and light NICU coverage in a supportive hospital environment. This three-month assignment provides consistent in-house shifts with structured backup call and strong pediatric specialty support.

Assignment Details:

  • Start: ASAP

  • Duration: 3 months

  • Shift: 8:00am – 8:00pm in-house

  • Call: 8:00pm – 8:00am from hotel with callback

  • Schedule includes on-site coverage, nights, and weekends

  • Orientation: 1–2 shadow shifts based on experience

Clinical Volume & Scope:

  • Average daily census: 5–12

  • Daily admissions: Approximately 4 (including nursery)

  • Patients per day:

    • Nursery: 3–6

    • Pediatric floor: 1–5

    • NICU (TTN, mild RDS, ROS, transitional delay): 0–2

    • Occasional ED consults (typically 1 bedside consult most days; formal consult every 2–3 weeks)

  • 130-bed hospital with 12-bed pediatric unit

  • ICU rounding not routine; rare temporary housing of medically stable psych patients pending transfer

  • Level I Trauma designation (managed by ED and pediatric surgeon; hospitalist contributes expertise in non-trauma emergencies such as drowning or cardiac arrest but not primary trauma management)

Procedures & Responsibilities:

  • Neonatal intubations prior to transfer with temporary ventilator management

  • Umbilical line placement

  • Lumbar punctures

  • OB team performs circumcisions

  • Collaborate closely with ED and specialty teams

Support Staff:

  • Nursery and step-down NICU nurses

  • Certified pediatric nurses

  • Pediatric surgeons

  • Respiratory therapists

Requirements:

  • Board Certified Pediatrics – Required

  • PALS and NRP – Required

  • Clinical competency strongly prioritized
