Locum Tenens – Diagnostic Radiologist
Location: Long Beach, California
Setting: Hospital | Inpatient
EMR: Epic Systems
Start Date: ASAP (once locums privileges obtained)
Contract Length: 13+ weeks

Availability

• Weekend coverage required
• Schedule: Saturday – Sunday
• Shift: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (10-hour onsite shifts)
• Minimum commitment: 2 weekends per month
• No call

Licensure

• Active, unrestricted California medical license required
• Willing to license: No

Board Status

• Board Certified – Required

Certifications

• BLS or ACLS
• DEA – Required
• CSR – Not required

Experience

• Minimum 1+ year experience
• Diagnostic / General Radiology
• Body imaging preferred

Key Clinical Requirements
Highly Preferred

• Experience with prostate reads

Must Be Comfortable Reading

• Emergency department cases
• Pediatric trauma cases
• MRI
• CT
• Ultrasound
• Plain films

Radiologists are expected to read all cases that come in during their shift and not leave pending studies for the next physician. Workload Expectations

• Adult diagnostic radiologists average ~14,000 wRVUs annually
• Average reads:
  • Weekdays: 130–140
  • Weekends: 150–180
• Imaging mix:
  • MRI
  • CT (heavier volume)
  • Ultrasound
  • Plain films (heavier volume)

Not included

• Nuclear medicine
• Cardiac imaging
• Breast imaging

Facility Overview
The radiology department supports two connected hospitals within the same health system:

• Medical Center
• Children’s and Women’s Hospital

Full-time pediatric radiologists work day shifts Monday–Friday and are on-call at night and on weekends, so weekend radiologists may see some pediatric trauma cases from the ED. Patient Population

• Primarily Adults (18+)
• Geriatrics
• Some pediatric ED overflow
