Locums – Rockingham, Virginia, Neurosurgery Opening

Clinical Role:

• Reason for Coverage: Locum needed while recruiting a full-time permanent Neurosurgery MD/DO

• Assignment Dates: June 1 – December 31, 2026

• Hours: 7:00am Monday – 7:00am the following Monday (24-hour shift)

• Call: 24-hour coverage per shift

Practice Setting:

• Hospital-based neurosurgery coverage

• EMR: Epic (proficiency preferred)

• Local candidates preferred

• Full office support staff available

• Program is in development; currently no provider staff

Patient Volume:

• Daily caseload: 2 patients

• Weeknight callbacks: ~5 per day

• Weeknight admissions: 2–3 per week

• Weekend callbacks: ~2 per day

• Weekend admissions: 2–3 per day

Required Procedures:

• General spine cases

• Minor cranial procedures

Preferred Procedures:

• General spine surgery

Requirements:

• Board Certified Neurosurgery – Required

• Active Virginia medical license – Required

• Virginia DEA – Required (if not currently VA-registered, must demonstrate intent to acquire or transfer DEA)

• Disclosure of all malpractice claims, including dismissed claims – Required
