Clinical Role
Provide full-time locum coverage across two facilities in a structured hematology/oncology practice. This role is ideal for providers who enjoy a mix of outpatient clinic care and hospital consultation with supportive teams and predictable workflows.

Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Assignment Length: Approved through March 31, 2027


Position Highlights:

  • Full-time locum with flexibility for minimum 3-day/week coverage if needed

  • Mix of clinic, infusion, and hospital consultation

Schedule & Coverage

  • Clinic: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Rounding/consultation: 1–2 hours/day at hospital as needed for inpatient & ED guidance

  • Call: Weekend and night coverage, ~1 week/month rotation

  • Call types: Inpatient consults and phone consultations, ~0–2 calls/day

  • Coverage needed per month: Full-time coverage; minimum 3 days/week accepted


Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Setting: Outpatient clinic with hospital consultation across two facilities
Patient Population/Age: Adults only
Patients per day: Average 15
New vs. follow-up ratio: 2 new patients/day, remainder treatment/follow-ups
Oncology vs. hematology breakdown: 2/3 oncology, 1/3 hematology

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting outpatient clinic visits and treatment planning

  • Supervising morning and afternoon clinic sessions weekly

  • Providing guidance and consultation for hospital inpatients and ED patients

  • Coordinating care with radiation oncology and infusion services

  • Documenting patient care using Nuance dictation system

  • Participation in tumor boards and multidisciplinary meetings

Clinical Scope:

  • Treat solid tumors: lung, breast, prostate, colorectal, and select complex cases

  • Manage hematology cases: consultation only, no inpatient chemo

  • Infusions include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, and other injections

  • Port access by RN; bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures not required

Procedures:

  • Port access: yes

  • Bone marrow biopsies: no

  • Lumbar punctures: no

  • Radiation oncology coordination: yes


Support & Technology

  • Support staff: 1 NP, 1 virtual hematologist

  • Hospitals have infusion centers for supportive care

  • EMR: Nuance dictation system

  • Hospital Bed Size: 274

  • ACS-accredited Cancer Institute


Requirements

  • Double Boarded preferred

  • Fellowship Required

  • Active PA License preferred

  • IMLC Accepted

  • Less experienced providers considered if paired with experienced physicians
