Clinical Role
Join a cardiothoracic surgery team as an NP/PA providing weekend call coverage in a hospital-based setting. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced provider comfortable with surgical support and vein harvesting in an acute care environment.

Assignment Length: Ongoing
Position Highlights:
- Weekend-only coverage with predictable scheduling
- Focus on cardiothoracic surgery support
- Opportunity to perform vein harvesting
- Backup support from on-call surgeon
- Manageable callback volume with rounding included
Schedule & Coverage
- Shift: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
- Coverage Type: 24-hour call
- Frequency: 1 weekend per month (facility need is up to 3 weekends/month)
- Average Callback: ~4 hours per day including rounding
Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Setting: Hospital
Patient Population: Adults (18+)
Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting cardiothoracic surgery cases
- Performing vein harvesting
- Managing patient care from consult through post-op
- Rounding on patients and coordinating care
- Responding to urgent surgical needs from the cath lab
- Collaborating with supervising surgeon and care team
Procedures:
- Vein harvesting
- Cardiothoracic perioperative support
Support & Technology
Support Staff:
- APP support available
- Surgeon available for backup after consult
Technology:
- EMR: Epic

- 163-bed hospital
Requirements
- Board Certified NP or PA – required
- Active Pennsylvania license – required
- DEA required
- Minimum 3 years of cardiothoracic or relevant experience required
- Acute care certification not required
