Clinical Role
Join a hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery team providing weekend call coverage in a supportive, team-oriented environment. This opportunity is ideal for surgeons seeking consistent weekend work with manageable callback volume and strong APP support.

Assignment Length: Ongoing
Position Highlights:
- Consistent weekend coverage (3 weekends per month)
- Manageable callback volume with predictable workload
- APP support available during coverage
- Focus on urgent cardiothoracic cases with streamlined workflow
- No TAVR procedures required
Schedule & Coverage
- Coverage: Friday 12:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
- 24-hour call coverage
- 3 weekends per month
Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Setting: Hospital
Patient Population: Adults (18+)
Average Callback: 2–4 hours per day (including rounding)
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing cardiothoracic surgical call coverage
- Managing urgent surgical cases from cath lab to OR
- Rounding on post-operative patients
- Collaborating with ICU and inpatient teams
- Evaluating and managing surgical consults
Procedures:
- General cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- No TAVRs required
Support & Technology
- APP support available
Technology:
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiac Surgery – required
- Active Pennsylvania license – required
- IMLC accepted
- DEA – required
- Minimum 1 year of experience – required

- Cardiothoracic program focused on urgent and inpatient care
- Collaborative environment with surgeon backup available after consults
