Clinical Role

Join a high-acuity cardiothoracic surgery team as a Physician Assistant providing operative support and perioperative management. This role is ideal for experienced CVT PAs comfortable in the OR, ICU, and managing complex cardiac patients.

Start Date: April 1, 2026
Assignment Length: Through August 31, 2026

In-house call with consistent patient interaction
Opportunity to work closely with surgeons in OR and ICU settings
Strong focus on advanced procedural and critical care skills

Coverage includes clinical duties and in-house call
Call Type: In-house for assigned patients

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Setting: Hospital

Patient Population: Adult

Responsibilities Include:

First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
Managing pre-operative and post-operative patient care
Providing CVICU and critical care management
Participating in rounding, consults, and admissions
Performing bedside and procedural interventions

Procedures & Skills Required:

CABG and open heart surgery assistance
Valve repair and replacement procedures
Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) – must be able to perform independently
Endoscopic radial artery harvesting
Sternotomy closure
SFA exposure
Chest tube placement
Arterial and venous sheath placement
Central venous line placement
Impella management

Call Details:

Phone consults: ~10
Patients seen during call: ~10
Admissions: ~3

Requirements

Board Certified Physician Assistant – required
Active Tennessee license – required
ACLS certification – required
Demonstrated cardiothoracic surgery experience – required
