Practice Setting: Free-Standing Cancer Center

Position Highlights:

• Blend of outpatient oncology and inpatient call/rounding
• Supportive team with 8 physicians and 4 APPs
• Manageable patient volumes
• Call rotation only every 5–6 weeks
• Majority benign hematology focus (65%)

Schedule & Call Coverage

• Weeknight Call:
  • Tuesday: 4:30 PM – 8:00 AM
• Weekend Call:
  • Friday 4:30 PM – Monday 8:00 AM
  • Includes onsite inpatient rounding Saturday & Sunday
• Call Rotation: 1:5–6

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Patient Population: Adult & Geriatric

Patient Volume:

• Outpatient: ~15 patients per day
• Inpatient (call/rounding): ~20 patients

Case Mix:

• 65% benign hematology
• 35% malignant oncology

Responsibilities Include:

• Managing hematology and oncology patients in outpatient and inpatient settings
• Participating in call coverage and inpatient rounding
• Managing bone marrow transplant patients
• Ordering and interpreting labs and imaging
• Prescribing medications and managing treatment plans
• Coordinating care with multidisciplinary oncology team
• Supporting blood bank and transfusion needs

• Chemotherapy administered by nurse oncologist

Requirements

• Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology – required
• Active South Carolina license (or ability to obtain) – required
• BLS – required
• DEA – required

Organization & Team

• Established oncology program with multidisciplinary collaboration
• Strong APP and physician support structure
• Focus on both hematology and oncology patient care
