Coverage: May 1, 2026 – Ongoing Need
Shift: 24-hour coverage (6:00 AM – 6:00 AM)
Minimum Availability: 2–3 days per assignment
Reason for Coverage: Vacancy due to long-term permanent search
Position Highlights:
- Combination of inpatient, outpatient, and clinic responsibilities
- Mix of surgical cases and endoscopic procedures
- Some overlap with employed surgeons for shared coverage
- Opportunity for ongoing, consistent locums work

Schedule & Coverage
- 24-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 AM)
- Night call begins at 6:00 PM
- Includes clinic days for post-operative follow-ups
- 30-minute call response time required
Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Setting: Inpatient, Outpatient, and Clinic
Patient Population: Adult
Patient Volume (per surgeon):
- 30–40 scopes per month
- 15–25 surgeries per month
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing general surgery coverage including call
- Performing inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures
- Managing post-operative patients in clinic
- Handling assigned and unassigned patients
- Coordinating care across surgical and hospital teams
- Responding to consults and admissions
Procedures:
- General surgery procedures
- Endoscopic procedures (scopes)
- Post-operative care and follow-up
Support & Technology
Facility Details:
- Hospital Stroke Certified
- Trauma Level IV
Technology:
- EMR: Cerner
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery – required
- Active Arkansas license – required
- IMLC accepted
- ACLS, BLS – required
- Fellowship – preferred
