Position Overview:
RecruitWell is seeking a Board-Certified CRNA for a locum tenens assignment at a Level I Trauma Center in Lexington, Kentucky. This is a full-time, medically directed anesthesia role supporting a high-acuity surgical service line with diverse case types.
Assignment Details
- Start Date: 08/17/2026 (flexible start after August)
- Contract Length: 26 weeks (option to extend)
- Schedule:
- 4x10s weekly (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Must be available 4 weeks per month (full-time commitment)
- 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Practice Setting: Hospital-based (Level I Trauma Center)
- EMR: EPIC (preferred)
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide medically directed anesthesia care under anesthesiologist supervision
- Support a high-acuity surgical service line including:
- Orthopedics
- Trauma
- Vascular
- Neurosurgery
- NORA (Non-Operating Room Anesthesia)
- No cardiac, OB, or neonatal cases
- Work collaboratively within anesthesia care team model
- Participate in perioperative anesthesia management across multiple specialties
Case Volume & Patient Mix
- Patients per day: 1–9 (variable based on OR schedule)
- Patient population: All age ranges except neonates
- High-acuity Level I Trauma case mix
Skills & Procedures Required
- Intubation
- Central line placement
- Arterial line placement
- Vascular access / line placement
- NORA experience required
- Regional blocks typically not required
- No OB anesthesia responsibilities
Staffing Model
- CRNAs, anesthesiologists, and anesthesia techs onsite
- Typical supervision ratio:
- 1:2 anesthesiologist-to-CRNA (can extend up to 1:4 in lower acuity settings)
- Residents may be present in anesthesiologist rooms
- Team-based medically directed anesthesia care model
Candidate Requirements
- NBCRNA Certification – Required
- Active Kentucky License – Required (or willingness to obtain)
- Minimum 1 year CRNA experience – Required (no new grads)
- Recent large hospital / Level I trauma experience – Required
- Comfortable in high-acuity, fast-paced surgical environment
