Locums – OB Hospitalist | Des Moines, IA (IMLC Accepted)

Availability

• Start Date: ASAP
• Schedule: 24-hour shifts (7a–7a)
• Average: ~6.5 shifts/month
• No more than 2 consecutive 24-hour shifts allowed
• Coverage Dates:
  • May 29
  • June 4, June 19
  • August 19
  • September 20, 22, 23
  • November 25, 28
  • December 21, 22, 23, 26, 29

Licensure

• Iowa License: Strongly preferred
• IMLC: Accepted (LOQ required at submission)
• Provider must NOT be local to Des Moines area

Certifications

• Board Certified OB/GYN: Required
  • Board Eligible candidates accepted if truly BE
• No additional certifications specified

---

Experience

• OB/GYN hospitalist experience required
• Must be comfortable with:
  • OBED patients
  • Emergency obstetric care
  • Vaginal deliveries and C-sections
  • Patients without established OBGYN
• No GYN responsibilities

Facility & Setting

• Medical Center
• Inpatient OB Hospitalist program
• OBED volume: ~1,389 visits/year
• ~463 deliveries/year
• MFM on call
• Residents present, but OB Hospitalist does not supervise them
• EMR: Epic

---

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage OBED and emergent OB patients
• Perform deliveries (vaginal and C-section)
• Care for unassigned maternity patients
• Support Iowa’s only maternity transport team

Practice Notes

• No telehealth
• No supervision of APPs required
• No GYN coverage
• Lab, imaging, and pharmacy available onsite
• In-house call with call rooms available
