Locums - Jamestown, North Dakota, Emergency Medicine Opening

Assignment Details
Start Date: July 13, 2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Coverage: Approximately 4 shifts per month (primarily nights needed)
Orientation: Providers must arrive one day prior to first shift
Setting: Emergency Department

Clinical Responsibilities
Annual volume: ~12,000 patients
Admission rate: ~8%
Patient population: All ages
Single physician coverage (no APP support)
Manage a wide spectrum of emergency cases with limited backup
Procedures required:

  • Intubation and advanced airway management
  • Central line placement
  • Chest tube placement
  • Procedural sedation
  • Adult and pediatric resuscitation
  • Orthopedic emergencies
    Lead trauma resuscitations and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
    Order and interpret labs, imaging, and EKGs
    Determine patient disposition (admit, transfer, discharge)
    Accurate and timely documentation in EMR

Call Coverage
No call required

Practice Setting
Level IV Trauma Center
Rural/critical access environment
Specialty support includes OB, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Radiology, and Pediatrics
Respiratory therapy in-house
Helipad onsite for transfers
Sleep room available for providers
EMR: Epic (must be proficient)

Requirements
Board Certified Emergency Medicine – Preferred
OR Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine experience – Accepted
Active North Dakota license – Required
Emergency privileges available with active license
Certifications: ACLS, PALS, ATLS – Required
DEA – Required
Minimum 2 years Emergency Medicine experience – Required
Strong experience in rural or critical access settings – Preferred

Professional Expectations
Provide safe, efficient, and evidence-based emergency care
Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and independence
Collaborate effectively with nursing and hospital staff
Comply with EMTALA, HIPAA, and all regulatory requirements
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic
Participate in team-based care and uphold facility standards
