Locums - Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Hematology/Oncology Opening (Willing to License)

Assignment Details
Start Date: November 2026 or ASAP
Contract Length: 12 months preferred
Schedule: 3 days per week preferred
Alternative scheduling option: 1–2 providers alternating coverage (1 week on/1 week off or similar arrangement)
Shift Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Call Coverage: None

Clinical Responsibilities
Provide outpatient hematology/oncology care in a low-volume clinic setting
Manage approximately 15 patients per day (solo provider model)
New patient volume: ~20%
Follow-ups: ~80%
Hematology/Oncology mix: ~60% hematology / 40% solid tumor
Participate in tumor board discussions
Provide standard medical oncology supervision of infusion services
Manage routine hematology and oncology conditions; high-acuity cases (e.g., acute leukemia) are referred to tertiary centers
Collaborate with onsite APPs and infusion nursing staff
APPs assist with follow-ups, supportive care visits, documentation, and order entry in collaboration with physician
Document all care in EMR

Outpatient clinic / private practice setting
60/40 hematology/oncology mix
One onsite APP daily
Dedicated oncology-trained infusion RNs
APP support for documentation and clinical workflow
Additional physician support available from affiliated group in Hazard
EMR: Meditech

Requirements
Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, or Medical Oncology – Required
Recent patient-facing experience – Required
Active Kentucky license – Required
Willing to license – Accepted
Must be able to function in a solo provider outpatient oncology model
