Locums - Fort Myers, Florida, Cardiothoracic Surgeon Opening

Schedule Details:
Monday–Friday
6:45 AM – 5:00 PM

Coverage includes weekdays and weekends

Weekend coverage anticipated approximately 1 weekend per month

Reason for Coverage:
Ongoing surgical coverage need

Practice Setting:
Hospital

Patient Population:
Adults

Responsibilities:

Inpatient surgical cases
Preoperative rounding
Postoperative rounding
New consults

No clinic responsibilities

No routine inpatient consult service outside of surgical patients

Rounding Details:

All rounding completed with APP support
APP creates progress notes and consult notes
Surgeon reviews, adds note as needed, and co-signs documentation

Weekend Coverage:

Rounding on all cardiothoracic surgery patients with PA support
Only emergent surgical cases expected to go to the operating room during weekend coverage

Call Requirements:

Night call begins at 4:30 PM and continues until 7:00 AM the following day

Weekend call coverage runs:
Friday 4:30 PM – Monday 7:00 PM

Monday through Thursday night call shared equitably among cardiothoracic surgeons

Call Structure:

Surgical PA serves as first call for floor patients

CVICU has a Cardiothoracic Surgery APP in-house most nights and will contact the surgeon as needed

Emergency Department will contact the surgeon directly when necessary

Support Staff:

APP support for rounding and documentation
Surgical PA first-call coverage
CVICU Cardiothoracic Surgery APP support
