Locums - New Ulm, Minnesota, Medical Oncologist Opening (IMLC Accepted)

Assignment Duration:
13 weeks with potential extension
Coverage Needs:
- Full-time coverage highly preferred
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Outpatient Infusion and Oncology Clinic
- Preference for one provider throughout the assignment
- Open to discussing partial telehealth coverage
- May consider splitting coverage between two locum providers
- Initial contract anticipated at 6 months with option to extend
Credentialing Timeframe:
90–120 days
The client would ideally like coverage beginning in mid-August, but September 14, 2026, or early October is the more realistic target start date based on credentialing timelines.

Outpatient Oncology Clinic and Infusion Center
Patient Volume:
13–20 patients per day
Support Staff:
- Oncology Clinic RN
- LPN Support
- Oncology Nurse Navigator
- Infusion Nursing Team
- Oncology Research Nurse
- Oncology Provider Coordinator
- APP support being added
Scope of Practice:
- Medical Oncology
- Hematology
- New patient consultations
- Cancer diagnosis and treatment planning
- Chemotherapy oversight
- Ongoing disease management
- Follow-up care
- Coordination with infusion services
- Management of hematologic conditions
- Management of solid tumor malignancies
No radiation oncology responsibilities.

- Patients receiving supportive oncology therapies

Typical Daily Workflow:
Morning:
- Review labs and imaging
- New patient consultations
- Active treatment visits
- Follow-up appointments
Afternoon:
- Ongoing clinic visits
- Surveillance appointments
- Treatment approvals
- Infusion coordination
- Management of urgent patient needs
- Review of laboratory abnormalities
Practice Environment:
This community-based oncology practice provides access to a large integrated cancer network while maintaining the advantages of a close-knit local practice. Providers enjoy a high degree of autonomy with substantial clinical and operational support.

- 5 exam rooms
- Dedicated oncology staff
Infusion Center:
- 9 infusion chairs
- 2 private infusion treatment rooms
- 2 fast-track triage rooms
Documentation Expectations:
Chart completion within 24 hours.

Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Oncologist – Required
- Active Minnesota License or IMLC – Required
- Hematology and Oncology experience – Required
- Ability to manage chemotherapy and infusion patients – Required
