Schedule
- Monday–Friday: 6:45 AM – 5:00 PM
- No clinic responsibilities
- Inpatient surgical coverage only
License & Certification Requirements
Required
- Active Florida medical license (verify at presentation)
- Board certification/eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery (verify)
Clinical Responsibilities
Surgical Coverage
- Inpatient surgical cases
- Pre-operative rounding
- Post-operative rounding
- New inpatient consults
Patient Care Team
- All rounding completed with APP support
- APPs create progress notes and consult notes
- Surgeon reviews, adds physician documentation, and co-signs notes
Call Details
Weeknight Call
- Call Hours: 4:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Monday–Thursday call shared equitably among surgeons
Weekend Coverage
- Approximately 1 weekend per month
- Weekend call begins:
- Friday 4:30 PM
- Ends Monday 7:00 PM
Weekend Responsibilities
- Inpatient rounding with PA support
- New consults
- Emergent OR cases only
Call Support Structure
- Surgical PA serves as first call for floor patients
- CVICU staffed with CTS APP coverage most nights
- ER contacts surgeon directly when needed
