IMLC Welcome - Locums - Altoona, Pennsylvania, Cardiothoracic Surgeon Job

• Clinical Role:

o Seeking a board certified or truly board eligible cardiothoracic surgeon
o Looking for coverage when the primary surgeon is on vacation or needs weekend coverage
o Need providers available for consecutive blocks of coverage (example: Thursday 7:00am through Monday 7:00am)
o Typically need 9-12 shifts per month
o Coverage includes inpatient rounding, surgery, clinic, and call responsibilities
o Wednesdays are dedicated TAVR procedure and clinic days
o Minimal inpatient call volume and admissions
o Urgent dissections and overnight surgical emergencies are rare
o No in-house call requirement
o Providers generally stay locally and must maintain a 30-minute response time
o Average admissions while on call: 2
o Typical schedule:
• Non-operative days: 8:00am-4:30pm
• Operative days: Start at 6:30am
o Office triages calls Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm
o After-hours, weekend, and holiday calls go directly to the physician
o No APP coverage on weekends or holidays
o All weekend consults, orders, discharges, and OR coordination are handled by the physician
o Weekend OR staff are on-call and activated through the answering service
o Bread and butter cardiac surgery cases:
• CABG
• AVR
• MVR
o EMR: Cerner
