Coverage Dates

July 13, 2026 – August 3, 2026

Providers should be available to cover all dates if possible, or at minimum 2 of the available weeks.

Ongoing PRN opportunities will also be available.

Schedule

24-hour call coverage

Coverage consists of 3-4 days per week

Includes 1 weekend of call coverage

Non-call days consist of:

• 8-hour inpatient rounding
• Surgical coverage

Practice Setting

Inpatient and Surgical Coverage

Level II Trauma Center

Coverage Details

Call coverage for assigned and unassigned patients

30-minute call response time required

Average phone consults: 4

Call ratio: 5:1

Average call patients seen: 10

Average admissions: 3

Responsibilities

Inpatient rounding

Surgical consults

Emergency Department call coverage

Cardiovascular surgical procedures

Team Structure

2 Cardiovascular Surgeons

3 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

Program Volume

Approximately 90 surgeries/procedures per month

Procedures Performed

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)

Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)

Thoracotomies

Lobectomies

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Repairs

Arterial Bypasses

Aortic Valve Replacements

EMR

Epic

Credentialing

Temporary privileges available

Provider must have a clean background for expedited credentialing

Requirements

Board Certified Cardiovascular Surgery required

Active Louisiana license required or IMLC accepted

Cardiovascular Surgery fellowship preferred

Must be comfortable with inpatient and surgical coverage responsibilities
