Brattleboro, Vermont – Hospitalist Physician
Status: Full-Time (1.0 FTE)
Hours: 07:00 – 19:00
Call/Weekend/Holiday: Rotating
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary:
Provide comprehensive inpatient care for hospitalized patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and coordination with specialists, nurses, and support staff. The role emphasizes patient-centered, evidence-based care in a rural community hospital
Key Responsibilities:

• Direct patient care: admissions, daily rounds, and discharges
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
• Coordinate care with specialists, primary care, and ancillary services
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostic tests
• Respond to emergencies, run codes, provide ventilator management
• Document care in EMR
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and hospital committees
• Patient/family education and guidance

Requirements / Qualifications:
Education:

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Experience:

• 2–3 years hospitalist experience preferred
• Rural health experience preferred but not required
• Ventilator management required
• Code team experience required

Licensure / Certifications:

• Active, unrestricted Vermont medical license
• Valid Vermont DEA license
• BLS and ACLS certification

Board Certification / Eligibility:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

Compensation:

• $300,000 – $350,000 annually (final compensation based on experience, education, and market competitiveness)
