Clinical Role

Experience a low-volume, high-quality rural Emergency Medicine practice in a Critical Access Hospital setting. This is an ideal opportunity for providers seeking meaningful patient care, autonomy, and a slower, manageable pace with strong support.

Position Highlights:

Extremely low patient volume (avg. 4 ED patients/day)
24-hour in-house coverage with sleep room provided
Blend of ED and light inpatient responsibilities
No APP supervision required

May 3 @ 7a – May 4 @ 7a
May 17 @ 7a – May 18 @ 7a
June 10 @ 7a – June 15 @ 7a

Schedule & Coverage

24-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
Minimum: 3 shifts per pay period
Occasional 12-hour shifts available
In-house call with dedicated sleep room

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Setting: Critical Access Hospital
ED beds: 3
Inpatient beds: 20
ED volume: ~4 patients per day
Inpatient census: ~4 patients (observation, acute, swing bed)

Responsibilities Include:

Managing emergency department patients
Providing inpatient care as needed
Coordinating care across ED and inpatient settings
Delivering high-quality care in a rural setting

Support & Resources

4 Advanced Practice Providers (no supervision required)
2 RNs supporting all services
1 CNA per provider

Available Services:

Lab, imaging, and pharmacy onsite
Outpatient services including radiology, rehab, infusion, and ambulatory surgery

Technology:

EMR: Together Care (Epic platform)

Requirements

Board Certified in Emergency Medicine OR FP/IM with recent EM experience – required
Active Iowa license – required
