Locums - Mason City, Iowa, PA Cardiothoracic Surgery Opening

Assignment Details
Coverage Dates:

• September 7 - 11 8a-5p
  September 28 - October 2 8a-5p
  October 5 - 11 8a-5p and night call, 24-hour call for the 10th and 11th ending at 0800 on the 12th
  November 23 - 28, 8a-5p and night call, 24-hour call on the 26th and 28th, ending at 0700 on the 29th
  December 21 - 31, 8a-5p and night call, 24-hour call on the 26th and 27th
  Ongoing opens needing coverage: Yes

 

• Mon-Fri =  8a-5p + weeknight call (all nights)
• Sat-Sun = 24 Hour On Call

Clinical Responsibilities
Provide cardiothoracic surgery support in both clinic and hospital settings
Assist with and manage cardiothoracic surgical cases
Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
Participate in post-operative care and patient management
Average surgical volume: ~125 CABG cases annually (few emergent)
Collaborate with surgical team and support staff
Document all care in EMR

Call Coverage
Weeknight call: Every night during assignment
Weekend call: 24-hour coverage
Specific dates include 24-hour call on June 7 and June 13

Practice Setting
Level II Trauma Center
Cardiothoracic surgery program with established case volume
Team-based surgical environment

Requirements
Board Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) – Required
PA License - Open to ALL candidates (a new Physician Assistant license is only taking 4-6 weeks right now) 
Minimum 2 years cardiothoracic surgery experience – Required
EVH experience – Required
Certifications: ACLS, BLS – Required
Must be able to cover listed dates - Required
