We are seeking a dedicated Inpatient Psychiatry Physician to provide comprehensive psychiatric consultation and liaison services for the emergency department and inpatient units, as well as manage patients in the Behavioral Intervention Support Program (BISP). This role includes 24?hour coverage to ensure continuous, high?quality patient care within a hospital-based 7?on/7?off model (with some scheduling flexibility).

Position Overview

Inpatient psychiatry position with a mix of:
Emergency department and inpatient psychiatric consultations (adult and adolescent)
Consultation?liaison work with medical and surgical services
Ongoing management of patients in a Behavioral Intervention Support Program (BISP)
8 - Bed Inpatient Adult Unit
24?hour coverage within a hospital?based 7?on/7?off schedule (with some flexibility)
Adolescents: Very low volume and those patients are transferred out 

Key Clinical Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments in the ED and on inpatient units
Formulate diagnoses and evidence?based treatment plans for acute presentations
Provide consult?liaison support for medically complex patients with psychiatric needs
Manage BISP patients, including individualized care plans, monitoring, and adjustments
Participate in crisis evaluations and emergency consultations as needed
Collaborate closely with nursing, social work, therapy, and other disciplines to deliver coordinated care


Academic & Program Involvement

Teach and mentor psychiatry residents and medical students
Serve as an advisor/mentor to assigned residents each academic year
Contribute to resident evaluation, scheduling, and other program duties
Deliver didactic lectures and participate in faculty development activities
Engage in rounds, case conferences, journal clubs, and regular faculty meetings
Take part in residency recruitment, including interview days and ranking/scoring discussions

Leadership

Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the psychiatry service
Help refine protocols and best practices for inpatient and consult?liaison care

Qualifications

MD or DO, Psychiatry trained
Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
Eligible for an unrestricted state medical license
Prior inpatient and/or consult?liaison psychiatry experience preferred
Strong diagnostic and treatment skills, excellent communication, and a collaborative mindset
