Clinical Role
Join a well-established outpatient hematology and oncology practice providing comprehensive cancer care in a collaborative community setting. This locums opportunity is available due to the retirement of the current physician and offers an excellent weekday schedule with no inpatient responsibilities.
Assignment Details
- Start Date: January 1, 2027
- Reason for Coverage: Retirement of current provider (effective December 31, 2026)
Position Highlights
- Outpatient-only practice
- Flexible schedule requiring 3 days per week
- No hospital admissions
- Low consult volume
- Leadership opportunity overseeing the outpatient chemotherapy program
- Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) physicians welcome
Schedule & Coverage
- Monday – Thursday
- Coverage needed 3 days per week
- 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Setting: Outpatient clinic and hospital-based outpatient infusion center
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide comprehensive outpatient hematology and oncology care
- Direct the hospital-based outpatient chemotherapy program
- Evaluate new patient consultations
- Manage established oncology and hematology patients
- Perform bone marrow biopsies
- Review laboratory and diagnostic results
- Collaborate with nursing and Advanced Practice Providers to coordinate patient care
Patient Volume:
- Approximately 15–18 patients per day
- 1–3 new consultations per week
Procedures:
- Bone marrow biopsies – Required
Support & Technology
- EMR: eClinicalWorks (ECW) and Meditech
- Hematology/Oncology-trained Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)
- Experienced oncology nursing staff
- Collaborative outpatient care team
Requirements
- Board Certified in Hematology and Oncology – Required
- Completion of Hematology/Oncology fellowship – Required
- Active Oregon medical license – Highly Preferred
- Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) physicians welcome
- Non-licensed candidates will be considered but must obtain an Oregon license during credentialing – Required
- BLS certification – Required
- Active DEA registration during credentialing – Required
