Clinical Volume

Obstetrics

  • Annual Hospital Deliveries: 2,597
  • Average OB Hospitalist Patient Encounters: 7.45 per day
  • Anticipated OB Hospitalist Deliveries: Primarily unassigned patients

Current Coverage Model

  • 5 employed OB/GYN physicians providing inpatient, surgical, and outpatient care
  • Additional support from per diem and locum providers
  • 6 Certified Nurse Midwives managing their own deliveries and call schedules
  • Hospital transitioning to a dedicated OB Hospitalist model to reduce call burden on employed physicians

Clinical Responsibilities

  • OB Emergency Department (OBED) coverage
  • Labor and Delivery management
  • Evaluation and treatment of obstetric emergencies
  • Management of unassigned obstetric patients
  • Collaboration with employed OB/GYN physicians and Certified Nurse Midwives
  • Support Family Medicine residents rotating through Labor & Delivery and OBED
  • Provide backup support for Certified Nurse Midwives and Family Practice physicians as needed

  • 5 Employed OB/GYN Physicians

Midwife Support

  • 6 Certified Nurse Midwives

Emergency Backup

  • Employed OB/GYN group available for support during multiple simultaneous emergencies
