Locums – San Francisco, California | Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Availability

• Start Date: September 28, 2026
• Coverage Needed:
  • 2 weekends per month plus the following Monday and Tuesday
  • OR
  • Full-time weekday coverage in addition to weekend coverage

Practice Setting

• Acute Care Hospital

Schedule

Monday & Tuesday

• On-site: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Night call: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM

Weekends

• Rounding begins at 8:00 AM (typically 6 hours)
• On-call coverage continues until 8:00 AM the following day

Call Responsibilities

• Night call on Monday and Tuesday
• 24-hour weekend call
• Place admission orders for accepted patients arriving during call coverage

Patient Volume

• 6–12 patients per day

Specialty Requirements

• Board Certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) preferred
• OR Board Certified General Psychiatry with completed Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
• Board Eligible candidates will also be considered

Licenses & Certifications

Required

• Active California medical license

Clinical Experience

Candidates should have experience with:

• Psychiatric evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents
• Psychopharmacology and medication management
• Developing individualized treatment plans
• Family-centered care and collaboration with parents/guardians
• Managing challenging behaviors using therapeutic interventions and de-escalation techniques
• Leading multidisciplinary treatment teams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Providing culturally responsive care
• Knowledge of legal, educational, and safeguarding requirements for adolescent patients
