Clinical Role

Join an established hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery program in Lima, Ohio, providing inpatient rounding and 24-hour call coverage for adult cardiac surgical patients. This ongoing locums opportunity supports critical call coverage needs within a Level II Trauma Center while working alongside an experienced cardiovascular team.

24-hour call shifts

7:00 AM – 7:00 AM

Call Schedule:

Weekend and weekday call coverage required

Position Highlights

• Experienced support team including three physician assistants

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

Hospital-Based

Inpatient rounding and surgical coverage

Patient Population:

100% Adult

Trauma Level:

Level II Trauma Center

Operating Rooms:

20 ORs

Case Volume:

Approximately 1 case per day

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery call coverage
• Perform inpatient rounding and surgical management
• Evaluate and manage adult cardiac surgery patients
• Perform required cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Collaborate with physician assistants, anesthesia, nursing, and hospital teams
• Provide coverage for coronary and valve surgery services

Required Procedures & Skills

Experience performing the following procedures is required:

• Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
• Arterial revascularization using:
  • Internal mammary arteries
  • Radial artery
  • Gastroepiploic artery
• Redo coronary revascularization with or without heart valve surgery
• Pericardial window procedures
• Heart valve repair and replacement surgery
• Mitral valve repair

Support & Technology

Support Staff:

• 3 Physician Assistants
• Established cardiovascular surgery support team

EMR System:

Epic

Epic experience preferred

Requirements

• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery – Required
• Fellowship Training – Required
• Active Ohio Medical License – Required
• BLS Certification – Required
• ACLS Certification – Required
• Ability to perform all required procedures listed above – Required
