Clinical Role

Join an established ambulatory hematology/oncology practice in Santa Cruz, California, providing comprehensive outpatient cancer care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team. This full-time locums opportunity offers a consistent Tuesday–Friday schedule while working alongside dedicated oncology professionals in a modern infusion center. The organization is seeking a long-term provider, and the right candidate may be considered for a permanent position.

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology Clinic

Patient Population:

Adult hematology and oncology patients

Patient Volume:

Approximately 13–18 patients per day

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care
  • Develop individualized cancer treatment plans
  • Utilize the co-located outpatient infusion center for treatment delivery
  • Manage patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship
  • Collaborate with nurse navigators, social workers, pharmacists, and oncology specialists
  • Participate in multidisciplinary cancer care planning
  • Document patient care using Cerner EMR

Clinical Infrastructure

  • 15 private outpatient infusion bays
  • 17-bed inpatient oncology unit
  • Daily multidisciplinary rounds
  • Weekly tumor boards
  • Rapid diagnosis clinic
  • Two radiation therapy centers

Support & Technology

Support Staff:

  • Dedicated oncology RN staff
  • Nurse navigators
  • Social workers
  • Pharmacy liaison for oral oncology medications
  • Research coordinators
  • Genetic counselors
  • 24/7 anesthesia coverage
  • Multidisciplinary oncology team

EMR System:

Cerner

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Medical Oncology – Highly Preferred
  • Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology – Accepted
  • Board Eligible candidates will also be considered
  • Completion of an accredited postgraduate training program – Required
  • Active California Medical License – Required
  • Active DEA Registration – Required
  • BLS Certification – Highly Preferred (may be completed during credentialing)
  • Clean malpractice and background history – Required
