Clinical Role
Join a busy Level I Trauma Center in Kansas City, Missouri, providing Emergency Medicine coverage across the main hospital and affiliated Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSEDs). This locums opportunity offers a diverse case mix, high-acuity patient care, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary emergency medicine team.

Coverage Needed:
- Equivalent of 2 FTEs
Schedule:
- Providers must be flexible to work:
- Days
- Nights
- Weekends
Physician Shift Times:
- 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
- 10:00 AM–8:00 PM
- 3:00 PM–1:00 AM
- 8:00 PM–6:00 AM
Shift Details:
- Main hospital may consider shifts shorter than 12 hours
- Affiliated FSED locations require 12-hour shifts

Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Practice Setting:
- Hospital Emergency Department
- Freestanding Emergency Departments
Facility Details:
- Level I Trauma Center
Patient Volume:
- Average daily census: Approximately 106 patients
- Annual admission rate: Approximately 34%
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and manage Emergency Department patients
- Perform all standard Emergency Medicine procedures
- Manage penetrating and blunt trauma
- Treat critically ill and medically complex patients
- Accept and manage transfers from outside hospitals
- Coordinate care with consulting services and inpatient teams
- Document patient care according to hospital standards

- Wide variety of routine Emergency Medicine cases
Technology & Support
Support Staff:
- Comprehensive Emergency Department support
- Pediatric coverage excluded
- Multiple Emergency Medicine physicians per shift based on volume
Additional Information
- Occasional use of robotic technology for psychiatric services
Requirements
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM) required
- ABEM certification required
- ACLS required
- PALS required
- ATLS required (completion of ATLS course at least once is acceptable)
