Clinical Role

Join an established Emergency Medicine team in Texas City, Texas, providing full-time locums coverage in a community emergency department. This ongoing opportunity offers day and night shifts with a broad mix of medical complaints and lower-acuity trauma while working alongside experienced nursing staff and on-call specialists.

• 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
• 7:00 PM–7:00 AM

Coverage Requirements:

• On-site emergency department coverage
• Call coverage
• Weekend coverage
• Night coverage

Orientation:

• Two shadow shifts

Position Highlights

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

• Emergency Department

Patient Volume:

• Average daily census: 55–60 patients
• Approximately 2 patients per hour
• Occasional higher-volume surges (8+ patients in one hour)

Patient Population:

• Adult Emergency Medicine

Common Cases:

• Chest pain
• Abdominal pain
• Shortness of breath
• Basic trauma
• Falls
• Motor vehicle accidents
• Sports injuries
• Rare severe or penetrating trauma

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat Emergency Department patients
• Perform required emergency procedures
• Manage medical and trauma-related complaints
• Provide procedural sedation
• Perform airway management
• Stabilize critically ill patients
• Collaborate with nursing staff and on-call specialists
• Provide appropriate patient disposition and documentation

Required Procedures

Including but not limited to:

• Intubation
• Procedural sedation
• Fracture reduction and splinting
• Chest tube placement
• CPR
• Laceration repair
• Incision and drainage
• Central line placement

Support & Technology

Support Staff:

• Nursing staff
• On-call specialists

Requirements

• Emergency Medicine Residency Trained required
• ABEM preferred
• Strong experienced providers may be considered without ABEM certification

Credentialing
