• Must be available to work Monday–Friday
• Weekend coverage welcomed

• No overtime
• Call schedule available approximately 1–2 months in advance
• Sleep room available onsite

Licenses, Certifications & Qualifications

Required License

• Active Iowa Medical License or
• Active Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) with Letter of Qualification (LOQ)

Required Board Certification

• Board Certified OB/GYN
• Family Medicine with Obstetrics is not accepted

Required Certification

• Fetal Monitoring

Practice Details

• Trauma Level III
• Call Ratio: 1:5
• On-call coverage only
• 4 OB/GYN physicians
• 1–2 Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs)
• Resident typically available during call
• Onsite laboratory and ultrasound
• Support from Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Operating Room, and Emergency Department

Clinical Responsibilities

• Triage and deliver obstetric patients
• Cover OB/GYN emergency department calls
• Round on inpatient OB patients
• Manage unassigned OB patients
• Perform circumcisions if comfortable (not required)

Required Clinical Experience

Obstetrics

• Low-risk pregnancies
• High-risk pregnancies
• Fetal Heart Rate Interpretation (NST/CST/FSE)
• Level I/Viability OB Ultrasounds
• Amniocentesis

Labor & Delivery

• Vaginal deliveries
• Operative vaginal deliveries
• Cesarean sections
• Breech deliveries
• Multiple gestation deliveries
• Placental abruptions
• VBAC management
• Repair of 3rd and 4th degree lacerations

Gynecology

• Open gynecologic surgery
• Diagnostic and minor laparoscopy
• Tubal ligation
• Lysis of adhesions
• Ectopic pregnancy management
• Oophorectomy
• Cystectomy

Patient Volume

• Approximately 65–80 deliveries per month
• 2–5 nursery admissions per day
• Approximately 40% low-risk pregnancies
• Approximately 60% high-risk pregnancies

• Cerner
• Transitioning to Epic in September 2026
• Virtual Epic training required prior to start
