Locums – Hartford, Connecticut, Physician Assistant - Cardiothoracic Surgery Job
Clinical Role
Join a Cardiothoracic Surgery team in Hartford, Connecticut, providing inpatient-only locum coverage across two hospital sites. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant who can work autonomously while supporting surgical services, rounding, and patient care needs.
Assignment Details
Start Date:
As soon as credentialed
Assignment Length:
6–12-month contract
Reason for Coverage:
Recruitment efforts and summer vacation coverage
Schedule:
Monday–Friday
8-hour day shifts
Potential call and 24-hour shifts
Provider Model:
Autonomous practice setting
Supervising physician will not be present during assignment
Practice Setting
Inpatient only at both sites
Facility Details
- Level I Trauma Center
- Adult, adolescent, and geriatric patient population
- Average patient volume: Approximately 10 patients per day
- No new graduates accepted
- Local providers required
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform pre-operative physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat illnesses
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Assist in cardiothoracic surgery procedures
- Write prescriptions
- Coordinate patient care
- Perform inpatient rounding
- Provide autonomous patient management
Required Procedures
- Placement of central venous catheters
- Placement of dialysis catheters
- Placement of arterial lines
- Placement of intra-aortic balloon pumps
- Endoscopic retrieval procedures
Support & Technology
EMR System:
Epic
Requirements
- Board Certified NCCPA required
- Active Connecticut license required at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Epic experience preferred
- ACLS required
- BLS required
- Must be able to perform all required duties
- Must be able to perform all required procedures
- Local provider required
Preferred Qualifications
- Cardiothoracic Surgery experience
- Experience working independently in an inpatient surgical environment
