Clinical Role

Join an established Cardiovascular Surgery team in Bridgeport, Connecticut, providing inpatient and operating room support for a busy cardiac surgery service. This full-time locums opportunity offers the potential for a temporary-to-permanent position for interested candidates.

Assignment Details

Coverage Dates:
September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026

Assignment Length:
13-week contract with potential temp-to-hire opportunity

Schedule:

• Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Three 13-hour shifts per week
• Shift times:
  • 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • 7:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• Rotating schedule with seven other APPs
• Weekend rotation approximately every 3–6 weekends, depending on staffing and vacations

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Patient Population:

Adult cardiovascular surgery patients

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide inpatient cardiovascular surgery care
• Assist with perioperative patient management
• Perform daily rounding
• Manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams

Required Skills

• Cardiac Surgery Operating Room experience preferred
• First Assist in Cardiac Surgery preferred
• Candidates with strong inpatient cardiac surgery experience will also be considered
• Chest tube insertion and management experience required
• Inpatient cardiac surgery experience preferred

Support & Technology

EMR System:
Epic (preferred experience)

Requirements

• Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Experience in cardiac surgery required
• Inpatient cardiovascular surgery experience preferred
• Chest tube insertion and management experience required
• Epic experience preferred
