Clinical Role

Join the Urology service at Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon, providing hospital and physician clinic coverage beginning in December 2026 for up to 12 months.

The provider will care for clinic patients, perform urologic surgery, and provide 24-hour hospital call Monday through Thursday. Friday is clinic only with no call. The current Urologist is leaving to become a Urology Hospitalist, creating the need for locum coverage.

No Da Vinci or robotic experience is required.

Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday
  • 1–2 weeks per month
  • 24-hour call Monday–Thursday
  • Friday clinic only with no call
  • 1.0 FTE

Weekly Schedule:

  • Monday: Surgery 7:00 AM–2:00 PM; Clinic 3:00 PM–5:00 PM
  • Tuesday: Clinic 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Wednesday: Clinic 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Thursday: Clinic 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Friday: Clinic 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; no call

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Attend to outpatient Urology clinic patients
  • Perform scheduled Urology surgery
  • Provide hospital Urology coverage
  • Respond to hospital emergencies
  • Manage hospital admissions
  • Participate in 24-hour call Monday–Thursday
  • Provide Friday clinic coverage without call
  • Perform appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic Urologic procedures
  • Coordinate patient care with clinic, perioperative, and hospital teams
  • Document patient care using Meditech and eClinicalWorks

The current Urologist performs a broad range of procedures. No Da Vinci or robotic procedures are required.

  • Excision of condyloma
  • Excision of spermatocele
  • Explantation of device
  • Hydrocelectomy
  • Adult hydrocelectomy
  • Hydrodistention of bladder
  • Hydrocele repair
  • Laser lithotripsy
  • Outpatient bladder irrigation
  • Operative cystoscopy
  • Operative cystoscopy with Botox
  • Prostate biopsy
  • Operative prostate biopsy

Call Responsibilities

Call Type:

24-hour hospital call

Call Schedule:

  • Monday–Thursday
  • 24-hour call coverage
  • Friday has no call

Call Scope:

  • Hospital emergencies
  • Hospital admissions
  • Urgent Urologic conditions
  • Inpatient Urology management
  • Surgical Urology needs

Support & Team

The provider will work with clinic and perioperative support staff, including a clinic Medical Assistant, perioperative nurses, and an RN in the clinic.

The coverage is needed because the current Urologist is leaving the practice to become a Urology Hospitalist.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Urology – Highly preferred
  • Board Eligible Urology accepted if recently out of residency and willing to obtain Board Certification within 12 months
  • Oregon State License – Required
  • Urology Residency – Required
  • BLS – Required
  • DEA – Required
  • Clean malpractice history – Highly preferred
  • Ability to provide hospital and clinic coverage
  • Ability to perform the required Urologic procedures
  • Ability to participate in 24-hour call Monday–Thursday
  • Ability to provide scheduled surgical coverage

Credentialing

Oregon State licensure is required.

A clean malpractice history is highly preferred.

Board Certification is highly preferred. Board Eligible physicians may be considered if they are recently out of residency and will obtain Board Certification within 12 months.
