Locums - Rochester, New Hampshire | Hospitalist Opening
Clinical Role
Join an established Hospitalist team in Rochester, New Hampshire, providing daytime Hospitalist coverage beginning October 1, 2026, for an initial three-month assignment.
The position is designed for a seasoned Hospitalist who can comfortably manage a higher patient volume, with providers handling approximately 14–24 patients per day. Providers will also provide consultations to the behavioral health and rehabilitation units.

Schedule:
- 1 physician position on days
- 6:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Provider is on-call for the entirety of the shift
- Once the shift is completed, the provider is not expected to be called or called back
- Two orientation/shadow shifts
- Both orientation shifts are 12 hours

- Daytime Hospitalist coverage
- Open ICU
- Tele-intensivist involvement
- Consultation coverage for behavioral health and rehabilitation units

Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide daytime Hospitalist coverage
- Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients
- Round on approximately 14–24 patients per day
- Manage approximately 4–5 daily admissions
- Provide consultations to the behavioral health unit
- Provide consultations to the rehabilitation unit
- Complete approximately 4–6 consultations per day
- Manage acutely ill hospitalized patients
- Participate in on-call responsibilities during the scheduled shift
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary support teams
- Work with the ED and surgical teams when procedures require assistance
- Manage patients in an open ICU setting with tele-intensivist support
- Document patient care appropriately

- Experienced providers comfortable managing 22+ encounters are encouraged to apply
Consult Responsibilities
Consultations are provided to:
- Behavioral health unit
- Rehabilitation unit
Approximately 4–6 consults are expected per day.
Call Responsibilities
Call Type:
On-site call during scheduled shift
Call Schedule:
6:00 AM–6:00 PM
The provider is on-call for the entirety of the scheduled 12-hour shift.
Once the shift is completed, the provider is not expected to be called or called back.
ICU Coverage
ICU Type:
Open ICU
A virtual intensivist is available to manage drips and ventilators and provide additional critical care support.
Support & Team
The provider will work with a multidisciplinary team that includes:
- PT
- OT
- SLP
- Case managers
- Respiratory therapy
- Virtual intensivist
- Emergency Department staff
- Surgical team
The virtual intensivist manages drips and ventilators, while the ED and surgery teams assist with procedures.
Orientation
Providers will complete:
- One orientation/shadow shift
- One additional shadow shift
- Both shifts are 12 hours
Requirements
- Board Certified – Required
- Active New Hampshire Medical License – Required
- Hospitalist experience – Required
- Seasoned providers comfortable managing 22+ encounters encouraged
- Ability to manage inpatient admissions and consultations
- Ability to provide behavioral health and rehabilitation consultations
- Ability to work in an open ICU environment
Credentialing
An active New Hampshire medical license is required.
