Locums – Amarillo, Texas, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

POSITION OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) for a per diem locum opportunity in Amarillo, Texas.

Start Date: October 20, 2026

REQUIRED LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

• Current APRN National Specialty Certification — Required
• Active Texas APRN License — Required
• Master’s Degree in Nursing — Required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 1 year of NNP experience — Required
• Experience working in a Level III NICU preferred

AVAILABILITY & SCHEDULING

• Per diem
• Average of 7 shifts per month
• 24-hour in-house shifts
• Weekend availability required
• May attend high-risk deliveries as assigned

CLINICAL SETTING

• 35-bed Level III NICU
• Average daily census: 23–25
• 24-hour NNP coverage, with a second NNP on day shift
• Close-knit team of NNPs and Neonatologists
• Dedicated NICU staff including RNs, RTs, occupational and physical therapists, social workers, and breastfeeding specialists

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• High-risk delivery attendance as assigned
• Neonatal procedures, including:
  • Intubation
  • UVC placement
  • UAC placement
  • PICC line placement
• Pediatric Hospitalist coverage for newborns
• In-house pediatric subspecialty support:
  • Cardiology
  • Nephrology
  • Pediatric Surgery
  • Endocrinology

KEY CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Must have:

• Current APRN National Specialty Certification
• Active Texas license
• Master’s Degree in Nursing
• 1+ year of NNP experience
• Availability for 24-hour in-house shifts
• Weekend availability
