Emergency Medicine Physician Opportunity - Seaside, OR

Position Overview

Providence St. Joseph Health is seeking 1-2 Emergency Medicine physicians for locum tenens coverage at Providence Seaside Hospital. This is an ongoing assignment beginning November 2, 2026, providing scheduled clinical hours in an inpatient general emergency department setting. The facility operates a small-volume ER with approximately 15 patient encounters per shift. This is an excellent opportunity for physicians seeking flexible locum work with a Level 4 trauma center.

Key Responsibilities

Manage patient care in the emergency department

Work both day (7am-7pm) and night (6pm-7am) shifts, with the majority of coverage needed for night shifts

Intubate patients as clinically indicated

Provide direct patient care with approximately 15 encounters per shift

Ensure smooth patient handoff to the next physician on schedule

Work a minimum of 10-12 shifts per month with flexible scheduling

Utilize Epic electronic medical record system

Candidate Requirements

Active Oregon medical license required

Board Certification or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM highly preferred); will consider FM or IM trained physicians with extensive EM experience if within 3 years of residency

DEA registration required

Current CV

BLS certification required

ACLS certification required

PALS certification required

ATLS certification required

NRP certification highly preferred

Clean malpractice history and clean NPDB required to start in November; providers without clean files may start in December

Must be willing to work night shifts with some day shifts (approximately 50/50 split)

Must be comfortable with intubation
