Internal Medicine - Hematology and Oncology Physician Opportunity - Martinsville, VA
Position Overview
Join an established Hematology and Oncology practice at Sovah Health – Martinsville as a locum tenens physician. This is an excellent opportunity to provide backfilling coverage while the facility conducts a long-term permanent search. You will work alongside 3 additional established permanent providers in a well-staffed oncology center with a supportive team environment. An apartment is available for lodging, and the practice offers light call coverage with strong potential for long-term commitment.
Key Responsibilities
4 shifts per week, 8-10 hours per day depending on patient volume
Outpatient clinical care for 12-15 patients per day
Beeper-only call coverage for established patients only
Very light call load of 2-5 calls per week (phone consultations only)
1-hour response time requirement for call
Collaboration with 3 permanent HemOnc providers, 6 RNs, 1 PA/NP, and 6 office staff members
Use of Aria EMR system
Candidate Requirements
MD or DO degree with Internal Medicine – Hematology and Oncology fellowship required
Board certified or board eligible in Hematology and Oncology
Active Virginia medical license required
ABLS, ACLS, and BLS certifications required
Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available for expedited start
Estimated credentialing timeframe: 60 days (fast-track possible given September start date)
