Position Overview
Ochsner Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join the dynamic team at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. This is a permanent placement position offering an exceptional opportunity for a physician looking for a balanced lifestyle and an environment that fosters professional growth. The position provides the opportunity to work with over 500 cases per year at a Center of Excellence with an Accredited Cancer Center, accredited Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program, and Advanced Certified Primary Stroke Center designation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide anesthesia care for cardiac surgical cases, with capability to cover all cases except LVAD and Transplant procedures
Perform perioperative echocardiography with strong echo capability to assist surgical decisions for valve surgeries
Supervise anesthesia care approximately 90% of the time, occasionally administering own cases
Manage a variety of thoracic surgical cases including robot-assisted procedures
Provide expertise in structural heart cases such as Watchmen procedures, PFO closures, and MitraClip interventions
Participate in the busy emergency department and Level II Trauma Center operations
Candidate Requirements
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Anesthesiology required
Fellowship training or recent extensive cardiac surgical experience
Perioperative echocardiography certification with demonstrated echo capability
Experience with structural heart procedures and advanced cardiac techniques
Comfort with robot-assisted thoracic surgical cases
Valid medical license
Hospital privileges required
LA Patient Care Fund coverage required during credentialing process
Organizational Highlights
17 weeks off per year with 3 FTE model and 2 on 1 off rotation schedule
