Locums – Hanover, Pennsylvania – Emergency Medicine Physician Job

Clinical Role:

  • Seeking a board certified or truly board eligible physician

  • Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine residency training required

  • Candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways:

    • Board certified or board eligible, Emergency Medicine-trained physician

    • Qualifying Emergency Medicine experience: 5 years of full-time experience, with a 4,000-hour requirement noted by the facility, in an ED seeing at least 15,000 patients annually

  • Must demonstrate evaluation and treatment of at least 1,000 ED cases within the past 2 years

  • Required certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS

Schedule & Coverage:

  • Q4: Sporadic coverage, approximately 2–4 shifts per week

  • Beginning Q1 through July 2027: Full-time coverage needed on a 5 days on/5 days off rotation

  • Minimum availability for consideration: 2–3 days per week

  • Listed shift times:

    • 7:00 AM–3:00 PM

    • 11:00 AM–8:00 PM

    • 3:00 PM–12:00 AM

    • 10:00 PM–7:00 AM

  • Shift overlap provided for transitions

Practice Details:

  • Annual ED volume: Approximately 31,000

  • One physician per shift

  • 1–2 APPs per shift until 4:00 AM

  • Physician works without APP coverage from 4:00 AM–7:00 AM

  • Fully staffed ED nursing team

  • No residents

  • Not a designated trauma center

  • Approximately 23% of ED patients are hospitalized

  • Approximately 20% of patients are low acuity

  • Available resources include:

    • ENT

    • Ophthalmology

    • General Surgery

    • Cardiac catheterization lab

    • Telestroke services

    • ICU

    • Pediatric observation unit

  • EMR: Epic

Procedures Include:

  • Moderate sedation

  • Central line placement

  • Bedside ultrasound

  • Nasotracheal intubation

  • Rapid sequence intubation

  • Thoracentesis

  • Chest tube placement

  • Minor laceration repairs

  • Splinting
