Locums - St. Augustine, Florida | CRNA Opportunity
Clinical Role
Seeking an experienced CRNA for an ongoing locums opportunity in St. Augustine, Florida. This is a fast-paced, collaborative care-team environment with coverage across surgery center and hospital settings. CRNAs should be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating with anesthesiologists for clinical support as needed.
Schedule & Coverage
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Ongoing
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, five 8-hour shifts per week
- Shift: 7:00 am-3:00 pm
- Availability: Must be available for 20 shifts per month
- Call/Weekends: No call and no weekends
- Coverage Rotation: Approximately 1-2 days per week in the surgery center and 3-4 days per week in the hospital setting
- Coverage Locations: Candidates will be cross-credentialed; coverage is generally expected to remain within the St. Augustine area
- Split Shifts: Generally no split shifts when assigned to the primary surgery center due to distance; occasional split coverage may occur at other locations with nearby surgery centers
Practice Setting & Case Mix
- Surgery Center: 100% Orthopedics
- Hospital Cases: Orthopedics, General Surgery, GYN, GI, Urology, Podiatry, ENT, and Neuro
- Primary Case Mix: General Surgery and Orthopedics
- Trauma: No trauma-designated coverage locations
- OR Environment: Fast-paced surgical environment with short turnover times
Practice Model & Clinical Expectations
- Care Team Model: Medical direction with a collaborative relationship between CRNAs and anesthesiologists
- Medical Direction Ratio: Typically 1:3 or 1:4; never greater than 1:4
- Blocks: Anesthesiologists perform most, if not all, blocks while CRNAs staff the OR
- Spinal Anesthesia: Significant total joint volume is performed under spinal anesthesia, most often performed by the CRNA
- Induction/Emergence: Most anesthesiologists request notification to help manage OR flow but do not require close involvement with every induction or emergence; some prefer notification during emergence to ensure the next patient is ready
- Autonomy: CRNAs should be comfortable functioning with limited direct supervision in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with anesthesiologists and receiving clinical assistance when needed
Support & Systems
- EMR: SIS in the surgery center and Cerner in the hospital setting
- Credentialing: Candidates will be cross-credentialed for applicable coverage locations
Requirements & Credentialing
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- Certification: NBCRNA Board Certification required
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
- Licensure: Active Florida license required at time of presentation
- Candidate Requirement: Out-of-state candidates only and must reside more than 50 miles from the primary coverage location
- Residency Verification: Copy of out-of-state driver's license required; no other form of proof of out-of-state residency will be accepted
