Locums - Bellingham, Washington | Physician Assistant Trauma Surgery Opportunity

Clinical Role

Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant for a Trauma and Acute Care Surgery locums opportunity in Bellingham, Washington. The provider will work across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, ICU, OR, and post-discharge clinic settings, with responsibilities spanning initial trauma response through follow-up care.

Schedule & Coverage

• Start Date: ASAP
• Contract Length: Approximately 6 months
• Coverage Need: 3.0 FTE
• Schedule: Approximately 3-4 shifts per week, including at least 2 weekdays and weekend coverage
• Shift Options: 6:30 am-4:30 pm or 6:30 am-6:30 pm
• Clinic: Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 am-4:30 pm; regular team may provide clinic coverage when scheduling requires

Practice Setting & Patient Volume

• Setting: Inpatient and outpatient hospital and clinic coverage
• Service: Trauma and Acute Care Surgery
• Patient Volume: Approximately 18 patients per day
• Responsibilities: Rounding and admissions, including ICU admissions

Clinical Responsibilities

• Respond to trauma activations and provide initial evaluation in the Emergency Department
• May serve as the first responder when the trauma surgeon is in the OR
• Admit patients to the Trauma/Acute Care Surgery service, including the ICU
• Provide surgical first-assist coverage
• Prepare for, manage, and provide follow-up care through post-discharge clinic
• Participate in post-discharge clinic coverage up to 2 days per week

Support & Practice Model

• Provider may work independently at times
• Some shifts will include another APP working alongside the provider
• Diabetic education support is available on-site

Requirements & Systems

• Licensure: Candidate does not need to hold an active Washington license at time of presentation
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and ATLS required through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, as applicable
• EMR: Epic; proficiency required
