Locums – Mount Vernon, Illinois Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Job

Position Overview

• Inpatient Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation locum coverage
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Contract Length: Ongoing
• Coverage Needed: 5 × 8-hour shifts/week
• Patient Population: Adults
• Average Patient Volume: 8–10 patients/day
• Unit Size: 11-bed inpatient rehab unit
• Reason for Coverage: Ongoing coverage needs

Schedule

• Monday–Friday: 7a–4p
• Wednesday: Staff meeting at 7:30a; physician must be present for the meeting

Practice Setting

• Hospital-based inpatient rehabilitation unit
• May receive consultations on the acute-care side to determine whether a patient is appropriate for admission to inpatient rehab
• Routine nonprocedural medical care for rehabilitation patients

Clinical Responsibilities & Procedures

• Bread-and-butter inpatient rehabilitation
• Routine medical management of rehab patients
• Joint injections
• Baclofen pump management
• Other standard PM&R procedures as needed

Support Staff

• Hospitalists assist with additional medical management

Hospital & EMR

• Hospital: 134 beds
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, or combined Pediatric/PM&R or Internal Medicine/PM&R
• Current certification or active participation in the examination process, with certification within five years, leading to certification in PM&R by the ABPMR or AOBPMR
• Illinois license required
• DEA: Yes
• CSR: Yes
• ACLS: Required
• Minimum Experience: 1–2 years
