Locums – Centralia, Illinois General Cardiology Opening

Position Overview

• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• General Cardiology locum coverage
• Duration: Ongoing; anticipated 1 year
• Solo MD coverage
• Patient Population: Adults
• EMR: Epic

Schedule

• Monday–Friday: 40 hours/week
• Clinic hours: 8a–4:30p
• Monday–Thursday schedule may be considered to accommodate a 4-day workweek
• Time will be blocked each clinic day for inpatient consultations
• Inpatient consult volume typically averages 1–3/day

Call

• Telephonic after-hours call coverage
• Limited hospital presence expected
• Hospitalists may call regarding:
  • Potential admissions
  • Whether patients can be admitted and evaluated by Cardiology the following morning
  • Whether transfer to another facility is necessary
• Call burden is expected to be light
• Call required approximately one week or a portion of each week
• Call burden can be reassessed and adjusted after the first few rotations based on actual volume

Clinical Responsibilities

• Inpatient Cardiology consultations
• Outpatient Cardiology clinic
• General Cardiology management of:
  • Coronary artery disease (CAD)
  • Hypertension (HTN)
  • Heart failure (HF)
• Read EKGs
• Read echocardiograms
• Supervise stress testing

Support Staff

• 1 APP, 2 days/week
• Medical Assistant
• Solo physician coverage

Requirements

• Board Certification required
• BLS required
