Clinical Role
RecruitWell is seeking a Board Certified Cardiologist for an ongoing locums opportunity in Rockport, Maine. This inpatient-focused assignment combines weekday onsite Cardiology coverage with after-hours and weekend call across two hospitals. Responsibilities include inpatient consultations, stress test coverage, cardiac diagnostic interpretation, TEE, and direct-current cardioversion. IMLC candidates are accepted.

Assignment Details

• Start: ASAP, allowing approximately 90–120 days

• Ongoing need

• Preferred schedule: 1 week on / 1 week off

• Will consider 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off

• Coverage blocks begin and end on Thursday at 5:00 PM

• Adult patient population

• Inpatient-focused coverage plus cardiac testing

Coverage Schedule

• Thursday: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM overnight call

• Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM onsite; 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM overnight call

• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 AM, 24-hour call

• Sunday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 AM, 24-hour call

• Monday–Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM onsite; 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM overnight call

• Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM onsite

• Monday–Friday onsite responsibilities occur from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Highlights

• Inpatient Cardiology opportunity

• Week-on/week-off scheduling

• 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off may also be considered

• Weekday onsite coverage with after-hours and weekend call

• Call coverage spans two hospitals

• After-hours and weekend calls can generally be managed by phone

• Minimal onsite callbacks anticipated, although the physician must respond in person when clinically required

• Established Cardiology and APP team

• IMLC accepted

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient Cardiology consultations

• Provide weekday stress testing coverage

• Interpret cardiac diagnostic studies and graphics

• Perform TEE

• Perform direct-current cardioversion

• Provide cardiac testing call coverage

• Manage after-hours and weekend Cardiology calls for both hospitals

• Respond onsite when a patient's condition requires in-person physician evaluation

Procedures & Skills

• Transesophageal echocardiography

• Direct-current cardioversion

• Stress testing

• Cardiac diagnostic and graphics interpretation

• Inpatient Cardiology consultation

Support & Technology

• 3 Cardiologists currently in the practice

• 3 APPs

• Approximately 46 medical/surgical beds

• 8-bed open ICU

• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease required

• Active Maine medical license or active IMLC Letter of Qualification required

• Epic experience required

• Must be comfortable using electronic medical records

• COVID vaccination required

• Influenza vaccination required

Organization & Team

• Inpatient-focused Cardiology service

• Three Cardiologists and three APPs currently within the practice

• Coverage responsibilities span two hospitals

• Combination of weekday onsite care and after-hours/weekend call

• Open ICU model with 8 ICU beds
