Locums – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Area – Critical Care Physician Job

  • Seeking a board certified or truly board eligible critical care physician

  • Work for a private hospitalist group

  • Shifts available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday only, 4 p.m.–7 a.m.

  • Coverage needs vary each week; some weeks may require all three days

  • Ideally seeking a physician available every other week

  • For the right provider, the group can arrange an every-other-week coverage schedule

  • Open to two physicians alternating weeks to meet coverage needs

  • Specific dates and number of shifts to be coordinated with the group

  • Work at a specialty hospital, managing patients’ internal medicine needs

  • No ER

  • No admissions

  • Primarily inpatient hospitalist rounding and postsurgical follow-up

  • No routine ICU work; emergency responsibilities may include intubation and arranging immediate transfer

  • Assist with code response, which is very rare

  • The hospital performs cervical spine surgeries and requires an intensivist on site in case emergency airway management is needed

  • Anesthesia is usually on site, with the intensivist providing additional emergency coverage

  • Central line placement may be required in extremely rare circumstances

  • No ventilator management

  • Single coverage

  • Weekday patient census typically ranges from 6–18

  • Overnight activity is typically very light, with opportunities to rest when clinical duties permit

  • EMR: Meditech

  • Credentialing typically takes 1–3 months; the group will work to expedite the process

  • Local candidates only; no mileage or toll reimbursement provided
