Locums – Colorado Springs, Colorado, OB Hospitalist Job

Schedule & Coverage

24-hour OB hospitalist shifts.
Provide GYN coverage for OBED (ER) cases only.
Hospitalists back up Family Practice.
Hospitalists do not directly back up midwives but accept transfers from home births and birth centers.
Hospitalists accept transports for MFM.
First assist is needed for community OB/GYNs and is available to hospitalists.
Backup is available to hospitalists through community OB/GYNs.

Facility & Patient Volume

Level I Trauma Center.
Level III NICU.
Hospital-wide deliveries average approximately 198 per month.
Hospitalists attend approximately 14 deliveries per month.
Approximately 287 patient encounters per month, with 53.3% involving high-risk cases.
GYN cases account for approximately 52.8% of surgical volume.
No residency program on site.

Clinical Resources & Services

In-house anesthesia available.
MFM specialists on site for consultations and high-risk pregnancy support.
Comprehensive labor and delivery services include:
- Certified nurse-midwives.
- MFM specialists for high-risk pregnancies.
- Epidural anesthesia.
- Hydrotherapy and non-pharmacologic labor support, including aromatherapy, birthing balls, squat bars, nitrous oxide, TENS, and more.
Patient- and family-centered care model, with skin-to-skin contact encouraged during the first hour of life.
Circumcisions are not required.
